Share: How to Disable WordPress Comments in Posts & Pages

How to Disable WordPress Comments quickly and easily using a plugin that we use on our sites and on client sites. Plugins are similar to apps, there are 30 ways to accomplish the same thing but we like to use plugins that are regularly updated, have lots of active installs and update often.

The Disable Comments by Samir Shah is just this. It is a simple to use plugin with minimal footprint and simple options.

Login to your WordPress dashboard, click plugins, search for “Disable Comments” (look for the red quote box as seen below) and activate it.

This plugin allows administrators to globally disable comments on any post type (posts, pages, attachments, etc.) so that these settings cannot be overridden for individual posts. It also removes all comment-related fields from edit and quick-edit screens.

On multisite installations, it can be used to disable comments on the entire network. Additionally, comment-related items can be removed from the Dashboard, Widgets, the Admin Menu and the Admin Bar.

Bonus: Disable Comments Must-Use Option

WordPress must-use or mu-plugins are not mentioned often but the plugin developer of this plugin has an MU-Plugin option which is fantastic. See the Git repo below
